Apple Watch Ultra 3 to have almost no hardware upgrades

One of the most famous analysts in the tech world when it comes to all things Apple has to be Ming-Chi Kuo, and today he’s back with a tidbit regarding the upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 3. This is now expected to become official at the company’s fall event, most likely taking place in September. That’s contrary to a report (by the same source, no less) from last October claiming there wouldn’t be an Ultra 3 this year.

If you were expecting huge hardware changes compared to its predecessor, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 introduced in 2023, you will apparently be disappointed. Kuo says there will be “almost no” hardware upgrades this year for Apple’s premier smartwatch.

That’s in stark contrast to the Apple Watch X, or Apple Watch Series 10, which should come with a thinner case and magnetic bands. It will also get blood pressure sensing and sleep apnea detection, both features which should also make it to the Apple Watch Ultra 3. But in terms of design, it should be indistinguishable from the Ultra 2, it seems.

A third-generation Apple Watch SE might join the X and the Ultra 3 at the fall event, if the company sticks to a two-year upgrade cycle for the affordable model.
