Honor is preparing a launch tomorrow, October 18, for a phone called Play 8T. The device will have a 6,000 mAh battery, 12/256 GB memory variant and two cameras on the back, the main one being 50 MP.
The official image also revealed there is a single camera at the front, hidden behind a punch hole.
All these features, including the advertised 850 nits brightness, are the same as on the Honor Play 50 Plus. The phones have different designs but feature the same hardware on the inside. Odds are one is headed for the online market in China, and the other would be designated for brick-and-mortar stores.
This isn’t the first time Honor has done this – the predecessors of both variants were also the same. The Honor Play 7T and Honor Play 40 Plus were essentially the same, with one significant difference being the name of the chipset, even if it was the same Dimensity product.
The Honor Play 50 Plus was launched at CNY1,399 (less than $200), meaning the Honor Play 8T will be priced similarly, but we’ll know the exact figure after tomorrow’s event.
