Motorola Moto E14 arrives quietly: a £70 Android Go phone with some improvements

Motorola quietly unveiled the Moto E14 – a cheap Android Go edition device that arrives as an upgrade to last year’s Moto E13. It’s a simple device with a modest price of £70.

The phone still uses the Unisoc T606 chipset, but with only 2GB of RAM, it is limited to running Android 14 Go Edition. Interestingly, Motorola upgraded the 64GB of built-in storage from eMMC on the E13 to UFS 2.2. That’s faster than some recent entries into this segment. There is a microSD slot, so capacity isn’t an issue.

Anyway, there are more upgrades. The display features a 6.56” IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution, however, it now also boasts a 90Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The whole phone is rated IP52 (water-repellent design).

The Moto E14 battery has the same 5,000mAh capacity and it now supports 15W charging. It doesn’t sound like much, but it is a 50% increase over last year’s model. The downside is that the phone is bundled with a 10W charger (why even include such a charger?).

Alas, the camera remains the same – a single 13MP module on the back with 1080p @ 30fps video recording. The selfie camera has a 5MP module that also does 1080p @ 30fps video. The selfie camera is now inside a punch hole instead of a notch, which we guess counts as an upgrade.

The E14 features a 3.5mm headphone jack, plus a single speaker with Dolby Atmos. This is a 4G phone with a dual-SIM slot, Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 (no NFC).

The Motorola Moto E14 currently appears on the UK and “Rest of Europe” sub-sites of motorola.com. It’s also available through select retailers like Amazon UK (which gives August 1 as the release date). There is only one memory configuration, 2/64GB, and three color options: Pastel Green, Pastel Purple and Graphite Gray.
