vivo just made the V29 official for Europe, and specifically mentioned it’s coming to Europe first. Afterwards, it should make its way to Latin America as per the press release, but it’s not an exhaustive list so India might get it in the future too.
The V29’s main claim to fame is its Aura Light function, a light ring 15.6mm in diameter that sits right under the two large camera circles in the same island. This is meant to significantly improve your Portrait Mode shots, creating “a three-dimensional lighting effect” and ensuring “even illumination from every angle, eliminating facial shadows and dark areas”.
It has a light-emitting area nine times larger than a standard flash, and can delicately accentuate skin tones while “artfully concealing imperfections, unveiling one’s natural beauty”, vivo says. Compared to the V27, there’s a 36% increase in brightness.
The Aura Light features Smart Color Temperature Adjustment, which lets it automatically adapt to the environment, compensating for the color temperature of the lights around you and providing you “With the expertise of a personal light designer”.
The vivo V29 has a 50 MP OIS main camera, a 50 MP “HD” selfie camera with expanded field-of-view and “precise autofocus”, eSIM support, and a 4,600 mAh battery with 80W wired charging (1% to 50% in 18 minutes).
The phone is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance, and will become available in two color versions: Peak Blue and Noble Black. The former has a unique, industry-first design – 15 million micron-sized 3D magnetic particles create “a variety of different shimmering and cascading gradations of light and shadows”, inspired by “the mighty grandeur atop the mountains”.
The V29 has a 6.78-inch “1.5K” AMOLED curved screen with 120 Hz refresh rate and a pixel density of 452 ppi. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chipset paired with 8GB of RAM. There’s support for 8GB Extended RAM too. Unfortunately those are all the specs we have for now, stay tuned for more in the future.
