Introduction
Xiaomi has finally entered the Flip foldable market, and it’s all-in for the manufacturer. It cannot be any other way, as its very first Mix Flip comes hot on the heels of the highly popular Galaxy Flip, already in its sixth generation.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip is a thin and stylish compact foldable executed by following the most current trends. It has glass panels, an aluminum frame and a stainless-steel hinge. Its most notable exterior trait would be the large 4-inch OLED with 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision certification, which supports full-blown apps and widgets simultaneously. Plus, it can also serve as a viewfinder for the rear cameras.
The primary, foldable screen is a 6.86-inch LTPO OLED of 1224p resolution, 10-bit color depth, 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support. It offers up to 3,000 nits peak brightness.
The Mix Flip runs on the most current Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, matching the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in terms of performance.
Xiaomi has put a dual 50MP camera setup on the back, which can also serve for selfies. The primary cam is a 50MP OIS shooter, while the secondary is a multi-purpose 50MP zoom camera with a floating lens, which offers 2x optical zoom, 4x hybrid zoom and a macro option from as close as 9cm away. There is no ultrawide camera, but the 23mm wide-angle lens of the primary should be enough.
The Xiaomi Mix Flip features one of the largest batteries ever in a Flip – a 4,780mAh capacity – and it is capable of 67W fast wired charging. Even better, the phone ships with such a charger. Oops, spoiler alert.
Naturally, Mix Flip runs on HyperOS. It has launched in China but it is expected to have a limited debut globally in August.

There is one glaring omission and that is water resistance. Most of the phones, including the Flip ones, are at least IPX7-rated. The latest Galaxy Z Flip6 is even IP48-rated, which is impressive. Maybe the international Mix Flip will have some ingress protection rating, maybe it won’t. For now, we do consider it as lacking any sort of water insulation.
Unboxing the Xiaomi Mix Flip
